Before ordering, you'll need to determine the following:
1) What mounting style do I need?
This is best determined by removing your existing alternator. It will be a Pad-mount (PM), Foot-mount (FM) with either a 1"X 1/2" pin or 3/8" x 2" pin or Saddle Mount (SM). These designations make up the first 2 digits of the ordering code.

2) How many amps do you need?
Battery-Alternator Sizing
Don't be too hasty to order too large an alternator. You may also need larger belts and your batteries may not be capable of accepting high amps. For guidance, read this link. The amp output makes up the balance of the ordering code.

3) Do I need an external "Smart" multi-stage regulator or is the standard internal 2-stage regulator adequate? The SmartMaax regulator is ordered separately.

All ElectroMaax alternators come with an internal 2-stage regulator so why would you want anything more? The SmartMaax external regulator provides a "soft-start" so when you start your engine, the load of the alternator is gradually introduced to reduce strain on the engine, surge to the batteries and strain on the belts and alternator. It also provides 4 stage charging with specific characteristics based on battery type since Gels and AGMs have different absorption rates. These features provide greater durability, reliability and faster charging for less engine run-time which saves fuel, emissions and noise. Should anything ever fail; you still have the internal regulator as a back-up.
