Choose the M1 when roll-bar self-righting behavior and Mantus’s stated advantage in very soft silt matter more than a low-profile bow fit.
The roll bar helps the anchor roll upright. Rear foils improve soft-mud behavior, and the shank and roll bar bolt to the fluke so the anchor can be broken down for storage.

M1 Performance — the roll bar you are here
The roll bar helps the anchor roll upright and present the fluke to the bottom. Mantus says the M1 has an advantage over the M2 in very soft, silty bottoms, provided the bow hardware has room for the roll bar.
M2 Performance — roll-bar-free
Rear foils, nose ballast, and shank geometry replace the roll bar. Mantus says the M2 is less likely to plug with muddy weeds and provides a cleaner fit for many pulpits, bowsprits, slotted housings, and tighter rollers.
Neither model is a universal bow fit. Use the official printable template for the exact model and weight before ordering, especially when moving to a larger size.
Getting the size right
Anchors are sized by boat length and loaded displacement together, not length alone. The three cards above reproduce the manufacturer row for this exact anchor weight. Compare the complete current table and account for windage, bottom conditions, rode, and intended use.
If a boat falls between two rows, Mantus recommends reviewing the larger anchor. Before ordering, verify that the larger shank and fluke will still work with the bow roller, pulpit, windlass, chain, and storage arrangement.

Galvanized or stainless?
The geometry and sizing are the same within a model. The galvanized version uses a high-tensile steel shank and mild-steel fluke with hot-dip galvanizing throughout. The stainless version uses a 2205 duplex stainless-steel shank and 316L stainless-steel fluke with a polished finish.
Does it come apart for storage?
Yes. The M2 separates into shank and fluke with a single load-bearing bolt. The M1’s shank and roll bar bolt to the fluke. Follow the current assembly instructions supplied for the exact model and size.
What bottoms does it handle?
Mantus positions both Performance lines for common cruising bottoms. Both use rear foils to improve soft-mud behavior; the M1’s roll bar helps it roll over in very soft silt, while the M2 is less likely to plug with muddy weeds.
Why is a printable fit template important?
Anchor fit depends on bow geometry plus the position and angle of the roller. A full-scale cardboard template lets you check shank travel, fluke clearance, pulpit interference, and storage before freight is committed.
