Hearing protection and marine Mesh in one headset
Reduce exposure while staying connected
N2R uses an over-head hearing-protection format with integrated speakers, a boom microphone, and Advanced Noise Control for intercom audio. It is designed for loud marine work where an open-ear headset is not appropriate.
Mesh plus wired radio push-to-talk
Mesh Intercom 3.0 supports hands-free group conversation. A separate, radio-specific cable connects N2R's dedicated port to a compatible two-way radio, and either headset push-to-talk button transmits through that radio.
Important: Sena's current N2R product page and manual do not publish an NRR or IP rating. This staged page therefore does not display the older 28 dB or IPX7 claims. If a certified attenuation value or waterproof rating is required, choose a model with a published rating.
Connect a compatible two-way radio
Choose the cable for the radio
Sena's SC-A0343 cable is sold separately in connector versions for selected Kenwood, Motorola, Icom, Yaesu, and Midland radios, plus an open-end option. Confirm the exact radio model and accessory connector before ordering.
Push-to-talk from the headset
After the wired connection is made, press and hold either N2R push-to-talk button to transmit. N2R can keep a Mesh conversation active while receiving and transmitting through the connected radio.
Cable required: N2R is not itself a VHF or two-way radio. The Sena N2R two-way-radio cable is sold separately, and compatibility depends on the radio's connector and pinout.

Compatibility and support
What is the NRR?
Sena describes N2R as hearing protection but does not publish an NRR or SNR value on the current product page or manual. We will not infer one. TuffTalk M publishes NRR 26 dB if a documented attenuation rating is required.
Is N2R waterproof?
Sena does not publish an IP rating for N2R in the current product page or manual. Keep it dry unless Sena supplies model-specific documentation stating otherwise. Bosun is the IPX7, floating option.
Can N2R connect to my marine VHF?
It can connect to a compatible two-way radio through a separate Sena N2R cable. A marine VHF is compatible only when its accessory connector and pinout match an available cable. Confirm the exact radio make, model, and connector before ordering; N2R is not itself a VHF radio.
How many headsets do I need?
One per person. Two compatible Sena Mesh devices make a conversation; Open Mesh can grow to virtually unlimited participants.
Will it talk to other Sena Mesh headsets?
Yes. Open Mesh is designed to communicate with Sena Mesh Intercom devices, including EXPAND Mesh, Bosun, and TuffTalk M. Keep firmware current.
Where can I get setup help?
See Sena N2R support for manuals and updates, or contact Cruising Solutions about a radio connection.
